Is it permissible to use animated films in which good prevails over evil without deleting scenes that include reprehensible acts like smoking, by analogy with the indecent scenes that are usually cut?

The fatwa does not differentiate between types of reprehensible acts, but rather distinguishes between animated films based on their content. What is predominantly good is permissible, and what is predominantly evil is not permissible. If they are equal, it is left to caution.

The approved opinion stipulates that the film must be free of Sharia prohibitions, the most important of which are: 1. The content of the film contradicts Islamic Sharia, such as disrespecting religion or impersonating prophets. 2. The participation of a woman who is immodestly dressed or in inappropriate roles. 3. It includes accompanying music without the option to remove it.

These violations are forbidden by Sharia because they lead to the corruption of belief, the destruction of morals, and the spread of discord. Any film that contains any of these prohibitions is forbidden, and it is not permissible to produce it, trade in it, or watch it, such as showing a young man smoking unless it is for warning against smoking, or showing indecent scenes that arouse desires.
