Is it permissible for me to perform an 'Aqiqah for my deceased father?

If the father had an Aqiqah performed for him when he was a child, then there is no legal basis to repeat the Aqiqah. However, if no Aqiqah was performed for him, then there is no legal basis for performing an Aqiqah on behalf of the deceased. The best act of kindness towards the deceased is to supplicate for them and to settle their debts if any exist, because supplication is better than performing an act and dedicating its reward to the deceased. The Aqiqah for the deceased is not legislated, and the wisdom behind the Aqiqah is to release the child from Satan, and this meaning is absent in the case of the deceased.
