Is it permissible for a mosque in Ramadan to accept an Iftar meal or money for Iftar from a non-Muslim?

There is no harm in Muslims accepting iftar (definition) food or money from non-Muslims during Ramadan (definition), as the basic principle is that it falls under the category of a gift or present. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, accepted gifts from disbelievers, as reported in the hadiths of Bukhari and Muslim. Among these instances are his acceptance of a mule gifted by the King of Ayla, a mule from Farwah ibn Nufatah Al-Judhami, a silk garment from Ukaydir Dumat, and his eating from the poisoned sheep offered by a Jewish woman. A condition for the permissibility of accepting a disbeliever's gift is that they must be trustworthy, and the occasion must not be a special religious one for them, such as Christmas.
