What is the ruling on a father and brother cursing his daughter/sister and slandering her honor, knowing that the purpose is to separate her from her husband?

If a father and brother beat and curse a girl unjustly, they are oppressors. If the cursing includes an accusation of zina (unlawful sexual intercourse), it is one of the major sins. The worldly punishment for slander is eighty lashes, but the majority of jurists hold that a father who slanders his child is not flogged. The father's oppression does not negate his right to dutifulness. It is obligatory to advise the wife's father and brother, and it is preferable to expedite the marriage consummation to free her from this oppression.
