Does not the revelation of the verse from Surah Al-Ma'idah: "This day, all good things have been made lawful for you..." on the Day of 'Arafah during the Farewell Pilgrimage, and its being the last revelation concerning lawful and unlawful matters, implicitly abrogate the permissibility of concubinage with slave-girls (milkul-yameen) without a marriage contract, given that the verse only mentions as permissible for intercourse those who are chaste: believing women and chaste women from among the People of the Book who are free?

The verse in Surat Al-Ma'idah (This day [all] good foods have been made lawful for you...) does not indicate the abrogation of the permissibility of concubinage through right of possession. The verse speaks about lawful marriage, not concubinage. The consensus of the Ummah and the actions of the Companions and the Successors confirm the continuation of concubinage. Furthermore, Surat An-Nisa' mentions the rulings of right of possession in multiple verses, and the Quran mentions right of possession among what was made lawful for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in Surat Al-Ahzab.
