Permissible gatherings of men and women are those in which there is cooperation in righteousness and piety, and in which the regulations of lawful intermingling are observed, such as the absence of privacy (khalwa), adherence to hijab, lowering the gaze, and women not speaking in a soft alluring tone. As for what is forbidden, it is that which is devoid of these regulations. It is preferable to avoid such intermingling, even if its purpose is praiseworthy, as a preventative measure against temptation.
