Is it permissible to hang advertisements and promotional materials inside or outside the mosque?

It is not permissible to display advertisements or promotions inside the mosque, because that distracts the worshippers, and the mosque is not a place for advertisements. Selling and buying, and announcing lost property therein, have been prohibited. As for displaying them outside the mosque, there is no objection to it, though it is better to avoid it as well.
