What is the ruling on killing for honor, and how can this punishment be carried out according to the provisions of Sharia?

Unjustly killing a Muslim is a grave crime. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, permitted the shedding of a Muslim's blood in three cases, one of which is the adultery of a previously married person (thayyib).

However, for a married adulterer to be executed, the following conditions must be met:

1. That the person be legally married (adult, sane, free, and has had intercourse in a valid marriage). 2. The adultery must be proven either by the testimony of four men or by the adulterer's voluntary confession.

Furthermore, individuals are not permitted to carry out the prescribed punishment (Hadd); rather, it must be referred to the ruler or his representative, because the implementation of punishments by individuals leads to corruption and disorder.

Concealing the sin of someone who has committed an immoral act is better. What is known as "honor killing" is an aggression and an injustice. Those who are killed (like a virgin) do not deserve to be killed according to Islamic law. And as for those who are killed and do deserve to be killed (a previously married person), only the ruler may execute them. Moreover, in many cases, killing occurs merely based on suspicion and conjecture.
