Is it permissible to control the gender of the fetus to avoid a genetic disease that affects only females, and is it permissible to abort a female fetus if pregnancy occurs?

If doctors confirm that the disease is genetic and affects only females, it is permissible to abort a female fetus before the ensoulment (i.e., before 120 days of gestation). After ensoulment, abortion is not permissible.

It is also permissible to medically intervene to select the sex of the fetus (male) to avoid the disease, provided that this is based on a decision by a specialized medical committee and a fatwa from an authorized issuing body, in accordance with the resolution of the Islamic Fiqh Academy.
