Is it permissible to abandon academic study and rely on God for the memorization of the Quran and Sunnah, or is that a satanic whisper, taking into account the desire to enroll in Al-Azhar University?

We advise you to fear Allah, and to be patient, persistent, and determined in acquiring knowledge, while observing the obligatory prayers, increasing acts of seeking forgiveness, staying away from what Allah has forbidden, and being cautious of wasting time. Do not abandon formal education, for it holds benefit for your religion and your worldly life. Accompany a pious shaykh, set a strict schedule for memorization and revision, seek help from serious students, keep away from bad company, and perform Istikhara (prayer for guidance) and consult before making decisions.
