Is it permissible for a mother to curse her children in a fit of anger, and will such a curse be answered? And is a mother's imprecation against her daughter, saying "may her eye be gouged out" for refusing a suitor she is not convinced by, considered an act of disobedience against the mother, or is it feared that the curse might be answered?

It is not permissible for a mother to supplicate against her children unjustly, as her supplication is answered, and the Wise Lawgiver has warned against it. A daughter is not obligated to accept a specific husband she does not desire, but she should persuade her mother with good manners and kind words. If the mother insists and the husband is of good character and religious, then the daughter should obey her, as Allah Almighty says: "So do not say to them [anything that indicates] disapproval and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word. And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy."
