What is the ruling on a wife refusing her husband to spend the night with her in the marital home because he is caring for his sick father, despite her righteousness and his inability to leave his father or be away from her?

Caring for parents, showing them kindness, and looking after them, especially in their old age and during illness, is of utmost importance and takes precedence over all else. A Muslim must balance their duties and give everyone their due. If it is possible to give a portion of the night to your wife without harming your father, then do so. This does not seem far-fetched if your father's apartment is opposite yours.

As for your wife's refusal to sleep with you during the day, claiming that your daughter would sense it, she has the right to refuse if the daughter is old enough to understand, as intercourse is disliked in the presence of anyone, or where one can be seen or heard, whether old or young. However, if the daughter is an infant or too young to comprehend, then intercourse is permissible in her presence.

The advice is to fear Allah, safeguard your father, not neglect your wife, and give everyone their due.
