Is it permissible to delay giving out the fidyah of feeding a poor person for each day if the fasts of two Ramadans have not been made up before the onset of the following year, knowing that the full amount for two months has been paid, but only a third of the period has been fasted?

The more authoritative opinion states that expiation (fidyah) becomes obligatory if a person delays making up for missed fasts until there is no longer enough time. However, nothing is incumbent upon someone who is unable to make them up. It is permissible to give the expiation before, during, or after making up the fasts. It consists of feeding one poor person for each day (one mudd of food), which is approximately 750 grams of rice.
