Interpreting dreams is permissible for those who possess knowledge of it. The Prophet (peace be upon him) and the Companions would interpret dreams. The interpreter may be correct or mistaken. It is not appropriate to interpret a dream for someone who is not knowledgeable about it. If one sees good, they should relate it. If they see otherwise, they should say something good or remain silent.

A dream can be righteous and true, or it can be a jumble of dreams, or it can be from Satan, and its interpretation may not conform to its apparent meaning.
