Did Umar ibn al-Khattab reject the command of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, to go and negotiate with Quraish during the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah? And why did he suggest sending Uthman? And what did he fear from Quraish? And did he think that Uthman's protection would be secured by his kinship with them, even though they were polytheists?

Do not pay attention to the doubts raised about the Companions. The story of Al-Hudaybiyah is proof of Umar's wisdom and his absolute obedience to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. His suggestion of Uthman as an envoy to Quraysh was due to Uthman's standing among them, not because of any rejection of him, but because he was the right man for the task. His killing of some Quraysh leaders is well-known, and the intense animosity of Quraysh towards him is evident. As for his stance in the Battle of Al-Ahzab, his initial hesitation does not diminish his status or the status of the Companions, because the circumstances were difficult, and the Companions are human beings who are affected by what affects humans. The claim that he did not listen to the Quranic verses is baseless, as he was among the most steadfast in adhering to the Book of Allah. Taking means does not contradict reliance on Allah. The questioner is advised to disregard the doubts of the people of desires.
