Is it permissible to offer a bribe to facilitate a work task, knowing that refusing to do so could lead to losing one's job?

Bribery is one of the major sins, and its perpetrator is cursed by the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, for his saying: "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed the briber and the bribed," and for the Almighty's saying: "Devourers of unlawful gain" and "Do not consume your property among yourselves in falsehood."

Requesting and accepting a bribe is forbidden. However, it is permissible to give a bribe to obtain a right or to ward off injustice or harm. In this case, the sin falls upon the recipient of the bribe, not the giver. If it is possible to obtain the document without a bribe, then it is not permissible to pay it. But if that is not possible, and the document serves a benefit or averts a harm, then it is permissible to pay the money, and the sin falls upon the one who takes it.
