Are white discharges tinged with yellowishness, or dark yellow discharges, or unidentifiable spots of color, or a small amount of yellow mucous discharge after purification considered menstruation or normal discharge? And must one inspect for them daily for fear of mistaking them for semen? And is feeling fear and anxiety when touching the Mushaf (Qur’an) in a state of doubt concerning purity considered hypocrisy?

The cure for obsessive thoughts (waswas) is to ignore them and not pay them any attention. If a woman sees purity by one of its two signs (dryness or the white discharge), she should perform ghusl (ritual bath) and pray, and she should not worry about any yellowish discharge she might see after the end of her regular period, because it is not considered menstruation.

If the yellowish discharge continues throughout the entire prayer time, she should do what a person with incontinence does: protect herself (from leakage) and perform ablution for each prayer. The normal white secretions (vaginal moisture) are considered pure according to the preponderant opinion, and purification (istinja') is not required for them. A woman should not burden herself beyond her capacity; she should pray, and her prayer is valid. She may touch the Qur'an and do all other things that pure women do, without anxiety or worry. It is not necessary to inspect for secretions, but if they are seen, one should perform ablution for them. If they are impure, one should perform istinja' (purification after excretion), then ablution, and then pray.
