Is a father who died from asthma and a heart attack, and who was diligent in his worship, considered a martyr who died of an internal ailment, and is he considered to have borne witness for uttering the Shahada before falling into a coma and dying in the hospital?

Goodness is hoped for one who dies righteously, diligent in prayer, charity, and fasting. Such a person is considered among the 'Awliya' Allah (friends of Allah) about whom there is no fear, nor do they grieve, especially if their last words were the declaration of faith. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever’s last words are 'La ilaha illa Allah' (There is no god but Allah), Paradise becomes incumbent for him." Asthma is among the illnesses for which the afflicted is rewarded, and whatever illnesses and calamities befall a Muslim, Allah expiates their sins thereby, if they are patient and seek their reward from Him.
