What is the ruling on including a specific person in the endeavor to acquire a property or land, solely to ward off his evil?
Imam Al-Shafi'i stated that there are three ways to legitimately earn money: 1. What is obligatory upon people regarding their wealth, such as , vows, and indemnities for transgressions. 2. What they obligate upon themselves in exchange for something, such as sales, leases, and gifts. 3. What they give voluntarily.
As for what is taken outside of these categories, it is illicit and sinful, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: "And do not consume your properties among yourselves through falsehood." Therefore, a broker does not deserve a fee if they have not done what merits it, and if they take something by force, they are sinful. It is not permissible for anyone else to pay it to them except out of necessity.
