If the wife is disobedient (nashiz), the husband should strive to rectify her. If she does not respond, then he should consider his situation: if there is a preponderant benefit in keeping her, then he should keep her; otherwise, there is no harm in divorcing her. There is no objection to encouraging him to divorce her if she does not become upright. A severe warning has been reported for the wife who angers her husband, and it is not permissible for the mother or anyone else to corrupt the wife against her husband.
