What is the ruling on a financial prize offered by a commercial bank without prior condition, and what is the way to dispose of it if it is unlawful?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

If a bank is usurious, it is not permissible to open an account in it, whether it is a savings or current account. This is due to the involvement in usury, and Allah has forbidden cooperation in sin. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed the one who consumes usury, the one who feeds it, its scribe, and its two witnesses, saying, "they are all alike." Whoever has done this must repent sincerely and close the account. The usurious prize is not permissible to own; rather, it must be spent on charitable deeds and general Muslim welfare.
