What is the ruling, according to the Maliki school of thought, on someone who practiced masturbation in Ramadan while ignorant of its ruling?

Masturbation during the daytime in Ramadan invalidates the fast and necessitates expiation if semen is discharged, unless the person is ignorant, such as a new convert to Islam, in which case only a make-up fast is required.
