What is nardashir, what is its ruling, and what is the recompense for one who plays it, taking into consideration the Prophetic hadith: "Whoever plays nardashir is as if he has dipped his hand in the flesh and blood of a pig"?

"Nardashir" is backgammon (nard), and its meaning is "the horse is sweet." The reason for its naming and prohibition is that it resembles things related to astrological and temporal divisions. Playing it is unanimously forbidden, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Whoever plays nardashir is as if he dipped his hand in the flesh and blood of a pig," and his saying: "Whoever plays nard has disobeyed Allah and His Messenger."
