What is the ruling on paying less than the due amount for riding public transportation buses without a ticket, knowing that the system allows for an unlimited number of rides for that amount?

Riding public transportation without paying is a sin, an act of deception, a betrayal, and an encroachment on the rights of others. It necessitates repentance to Allah Almighty and the restoration of rights to their owners. The questioner must repent, feel remorse, and resolve not to return to such an act. Additionally, he must return the amount owed, which is the value of the journeys he took without paying, not the value of a monthly pass. He is not required to confess what he did; it is sufficient to return the money by any possible means that does not expose him to embarrassment or legal accountability. If he does not have the full amount to pay, he should pay what he can, and then complete the remaining payment whenever it becomes possible.
