Does the validity of wiping over the socks for an apostate become void if he repents while wearing them in a state of purity?

Scholars differed regarding the obligation of ghusl (definition) (ritual bath) for an apostate upon returning to Islam. The Hanbalis and Malikis (if the apostate engaged in something that necessitates ghusl during their apostasy) are of the opinion that ghusl is obligatory. According to this view, wiping over the khuffayn (leather socks) becomes invalidated and a full body wash is required. As for those who do not consider apostasy to necessitate ghusl, they did not mention apostasy among the things that invalidate wiping. Al-Shirbini (Shafi'i) mentioned that the invalidators of wiping are removing the khuffayn, the expiration of the period, or anything that necessitates ghusl. Al-Kasani (Hanafi) mentioned that wiping is invalidated by the expiration of the period or by removing the khuffayn. Therefore, if nothing happened to the apostate other than apostasy, they may wipe over their socks when performing wudu' (ablution).
