The question

Is the prayer valid, and must it be repeated, if I prayed Dhuhr and Asr together by means of Tayammum and in an unsuitable place (on a chair) before the time for Maghrib entered, due to being preoccupied with work and the unavailability of a suitable place for prayer?

The answer

Prayer holds a great status in Islam, being the second pillar after the two declarations of faith. Negligence or abandonment of it incurs a severe warning, and it is obligatory to maintain it at its prescribed times. It is permissible to combine two prayers when there is a need, if considerable hardship would result from not doing so. However, being busy with work is not considered a justification for abandoning prayer. Prayer can be performed in any clean place, such as offices and public areas, and a Muslim should not be ashamed to perform it. Tayammum (dry ablution) is legislated when its causes are present, such as illness or lack of water, and it is performed with dust, having conditions and pillars that must be adhered to. Praying on a car seat while the car is moving is not permissible except in cases of dire necessity, such as fear for one's life or property, and similar situations.
