If a woman applies perfume in her home without intending for its scent to reach non- men, then she is compelled to meet a non-mahram man, such as a guard, there is no sin, Allah willing, especially if she has taken precautions. This is because the prohibition against wearing perfume is intended to prevent tempting men, as stated in the : "Any woman who perfumes herself and passes by people so that they may smell her fragrance is a fornicator." She is permitted to use light perfumes at home with caution, avoiding contact with non-mahram men, and ensuring she did not intentionally perfume herself to meet him.
