What should one do who is afflicted with the love of beardless youths and an aversion to women, despite knowing its prohibition and striving against his soul, and is there anything that will compensate him in Paradise?
This tribulation can destroy a person's mind, body, and religion. It is the path first taken by the people of Lot, whom Allah punished as He had not punished any nation before them. It is an abomination in the sight of Allah and a cause for being far from His mercy.
The causes of this affliction are: weakness of faith, uncontrolled gazing at young men (murdān), negligence in obligatory acts and supererogatory prayers, abandoning the Quran and reading the biographies of the righteous, negligence in seeking knowledge, excessive free time, associating with bad company, and abstaining from marriage.
To cure this ailment, one must: strengthen faith, refrain from gazing at young men and avoid their company and seclusion with them, maintain prayers, adhere to a daily portion of the Quran, seek knowledge, occupy time with acts of obedience, abandon corrupt company and seek out righteous company, strive for marriage, seek Allah's help through supplication, and reflect on the condition of those who have fallen into this forbidden love.
