The womb (kinship) is of two types: kinship that must be maintained and is forbidden to sever, and these are the mahram relatives, such as ancestors, descendants, and those connected to them like siblings, paternal uncles, and maternal uncles. The second type is kinship that is commendable to maintain and disliked to sever, and these are the non-mahram relatives, such as the children of paternal and maternal uncles.

It is not permissible to sever the mahram kinship, and it is disliked to sever the non-mahram kinship, unless the severance is to avoid its evil and harm, in which case it is neither forbidden nor disliked. As for someone who is not a kinship tie (womb), there is no harm in avoiding her without desertion, and desertion is removed by extending greetings upon meeting.
