What is the meaning of Al-Hasan Al-Basri's saying: "Death has exposed the worldly life," and Ibn Al-Qayyim's saying: "Whoever masters worship, it becomes difficult for him"? And how can obedience be made easy for the heart and body?

Worship becomes easy upon knowing its reward, for death has exposed the world, leaving no joy in it for the wise. Religion is ease, with no hardship in it. Allah Almighty says: "Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity," and "He has not placed upon you in religion any difficulty." The presence of the heart in prayer and reflection removes laziness from it and makes it a comfort to the eye. As for the heedless, they do not find its sweetness and feel it to be burdensome. Prayer atones for sins for whoever performs it rightfully and with humility, making them feel light and energetic afterwards, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "O Bilal, relieve us with prayer," and "The comfort of my eye has been made in prayer."
