What is the Sharia ruling on a mother-in-law's bad treatment of her son's wife?

It is the wife's right that her husband provides her with an independent dwelling, and she is not obliged to accept living with his family. Likewise, she is not required to serve her husband's mother or any other members of his family, but if she volunteers to do so, it is an act of kindness. The wife has the right to demand an independent dwelling from her husband. If she agrees to live with his family, then they must treat her kindly and not interfere in her private affairs. The husband, for his part, must treat her well and not expose her to insult or harm from his family.
