Is it permissible for the guardian of the betrothed woman to prevent her suitor from the legitimate viewing?

The guardian is not sinful if he prevents the suitor from looking at the fiancée, because looking is either permissible or a Sunnah, and not obligatory. However, it is preferable to enable the suitor to see her so that conviction is achieved between the two parties, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "That is more likely to create affection between them." The majority of jurists have permitted the suitor to look at the fiancée without needing her permission or her guardian's permission.
