When and where was the Tayammum verse revealed, given that there is more than one narration?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The verse of Tayammum (dry ablution) was revealed in the sixth year of the Hijra during the Battle of Banu Mustaliq (also known as Muraysi' or Al-Ifk), in Sha'ban. The ruling of Tayammum is mentioned in two Medinan verses, by scholarly consensus: one in Surat An-Nisa (Chapter of Women), and the other in Surat Al-Ma'idah (Chapter of The Table Spread). The verse of Tayammum referred to in the Hadith of Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, is the verse from Surat An-Nisa, as preferred by Imam Al-Qurtubi.
