How can female students and teachers be dealt with in a mixed university environment in a way that achieves mastery of specialization while adhering to Islamic regulations?

Studying and teaching in mixed (co-educational) universities and schools is impermissible due to the grave harms involved, and this has been ruled by trustworthy scholars such as the Permanent Fatwa Committee and Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen.

However, in cases of extreme necessity, where there is no alternative for studying other than mixed education, or remote learning, mixed education may be permissible, provided strict Sharia guidelines are observed, such as lowering the gaze, avoiding direct mixing, seclusion (khalwa), or handshaking, while prioritizing the safety of one's religion above all else.

Anyone who finds themselves drifting towards the unlawful must leave the place, because the safety of one's religion is more important than worldly gains.

There are also non-mixed universities that students can enroll in.
