A woman is not obliged to pay zakat on gold for past years if it is confirmed that her husband paid it on her behalf with the intention of zakat, and the husband did not intend to reclaim it. However, if it becomes clear that he did not pay it, she must pay it for all past years, and the sin of delay falls upon the husband. It should be noted that gold designated for adornment is not subject to zakat, according to the preponderant opinion.
