What is the detailed meaning of the noble verse: {Indeed, those who like that immorality should spread among those who have believed will have a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter. And Allah knows, and you do not know} with examples?

The term "fahishah" (immorality/lewdness) is widely applied to zina (fornication/adultery) and other reprehensible acts. Loving the spread of fahishah among believers indicates ill intent towards them and warrants punishment in this world and the hereafter, due to the corruption that results from it. Here, "loving" is a metaphor for being predisposed to bringing about what one desires to happen. Its worldly punishment is the Hadd (prescribed punishment) for qadhf (false accusation of unchastity), while the punishment in the hereafter is more severe because it is the recompense for wicked intentions. What is meant by the "spread of fahishah" is the spread of its news, because "spread" refers to news. This noble verse educates believers not to desire for their brethren anything but what they desire for themselves. Discussing immoralities leads to belittling them, which encourages malicious souls to commit them. And Allah knows the corruption therein, while you do not know.
