Should one vomit or cleanse the mouth to purify the soul after eating forbidden meat?
If one eats unlawful meat, they must purify their mouth and hands from the impurity. They should also vomit what they swallowed of it, if possible without harm and if the impurity remains in its state. Scholars have differed on the ruling of vomiting impurities, between obligation and recommendation. Al-Shafi'i held it to be obligatory for whoever is able to do so without harm.
As for the validity of prayer, some scholars held that it is invalid if one was able to vomit the impurity but did not. However, the correct view is that it is valid, because impurity inside a person does not invalidate prayer. This is analogous to the permissibility of carrying a child who has impurity on them, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did when he carried Umamah bint Zaynab during his prayer.
