We have previously explained the meaning of moderation (wasatiyyah) in Islam in No. 43288. We alert the questioner that many people misunderstand moderation, using it to shed religious obligations and fall into prohibitions under the pretext that "Islam is moderate and free from strictness." This is a misguided understanding of moderation.
