Is dried dog saliva, whose traces have been removed from clothing by the sun or wind, purified, by analogy with the purification of ordinary impurities through dryness and the removal of traces?

A garment that has become impure does not become pure through drying, whether the impurity is from a dog's saliva or anything else. This is the apparent understanding from the statements of scholars, and it is supported by the fact that only the earth becomes pure through drying or the sun. Ibn Nujaym Al-Hanafi said: "He qualified it with 'earth' to exclude clothing, mats, bodies, and other things, for these do not become pure by drying at all."
