Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and other scholars are of the view that blood is impure. Ibn Hazm transmitted the consensus of scholars on the impurity of a large amount of blood, a point that Shaykh al-Islam did not refute. Imam Ahmad also affirmed that there is no disagreement regarding the impurity of blood, distinguishing it from pus. Al-Nawawi stated that the evidence for the impurity of blood is abundant, and he was unaware of any disagreement on this matter among Muslims, apart from an unreliable opinion held by some Mutakallimun (speculative theologians). This strong consensus renders any opposing view on the impurity of blood weak and rejected.
