Is negligence in ablution—such as not completing it, or forgetting a part of it, or wiping over socks due to cold—among the justifications for not completing it? And will Allah punish one who negligently fails to complete ablution out of forgetfulness?

Delaying prayer until one is exhausted, and performing a quick, incomplete ablution, incurs severe warning. Therefore, care must be taken to perform a complete ablution (isbagh al-wudu'), as it is a condition for the validity of prayer. Whoever takes it lightly has taken their prayer lightly, and ablution is half of faith.

If a Muslim prays while unaware of impurity or ritual impurity (hadath) on their clothes, or a deficiency in their purification, their prayer is valid, and there is no sin upon them. However, they must repeat the prayer if they become aware of this after finishing it.

There is no need for specific reasons to wipe over socks (mash alal-khuffayn); rather, it is one of the dispensations of Islam, as long as they were put on while in a state of ritual purity.

Therefore, it is not permissible to be negligent in performing a correct ablution, nor to exaggerate it with obsessive doubts. Moderation is achieved by following the guidance of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
