The answer

If the wife commits adultery, the husband may restrict her and refuse to divorce her until she forfeits her dower (mahr) or a portion of it. However, if he divorces her unconditionally, she is entitled to her full dower and the rights of a divorced woman, because the dower is not forfeited merely by adultery. If he divorces her with a revocable divorce, she must remain in her husband's home until her waiting period (') expires. A repentant wife must hasten to sincere repentance, and if the husband becomes aware of the sincerity of her repentance, he may keep her or take her back, because repentance erases what preceded it.
