Is saying, "This is a trial/lure [from God]" upon experiencing good fortune considered a bad assumption about God, given one's awareness of their shortcomings and sins?

A servant's feeling that the good things happening to him while he persists in disobedience is a gradual enticement (istidraj) and not a negative assumption about Allah, is based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "If you see Allah giving a servant what he desires from this world despite his disobedience, then it is merely a gradual enticement (istidraj)," and he recited the verse: "So when they forgot that by which they had been reminded, We opened to them the gates of every [good] thing until, when they rejoiced in what they had been given, We seized them unexpectedly, and suddenly they were in despair." And the servant must repent to Allah and have a good opinion of Him regarding the acceptance of his repentance, based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "I am as My servant expects Me to be, so if he expects good from Me, he will have it, and if he expects evil from Me, he will have it."
