Is Allah's victory granted to a person with many sins over his disbelieving enemies considered a good for him or a gradual enticement (istidraj)? And how does one distinguish between a blessing and a gradual enticement?

God's victory for His servant over his oppressive enemy is a blessing worthy of gratitude. A blessing becomes a istidraj (a gradual leading to ruin) if the servant persists in disobedience and is deluded by God's forbearance, as confirmed by the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "If you see God giving a servant of this world what he loves, despite his sins, then it is merely istidraj." Then he recited the verse: "So when they forgot that by which they had been reminded, We opened to them the gates of every [good] thing until, when they rejoiced in that which they were given, We seized them suddenly, and they were then in despair." However, if the disobedient servant repents and thanks God for the blessing, then it is not istidraj.
