ما هي شروط بيت الطاعة؟

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The jurists stipulate that the marital home must be free of the husband's family, except for his immature child, because the wife is harmed by sharing the space with others and it prevents her from intimate relations with her husband. As for the dwelling of the husband's relatives or his other wives in the same house, the schools of thought differ: The Hanafis and Shafi'is hold that a separate room within the house is sufficient for the wife, while the Malikis differentiated between a noblewoman and a commoner. A noblewoman is prohibited from living with the husband's relatives unless it was stipulated to her, or if they do not see her nakedness. As for housing a co-wife, each must be in an independent home, as they are a source of jealousy and dispute, unless they both agree to it. The house must be among good neighbors so that the wife feels safe concerning herself and her property, and the house must include all necessary facilities and provisions for the living of people of their status.
