What is the ruling on ringtones emanating from mobile phones, what is the ruling on ringtones of Islamic anasheed (chants) that are set with the intention of da'wah (inviting to Islam), and what is the difference between them and song ringtones?

The phone ringtone is permissible if it is merely an alert and free from music or vulgar speech. However, if it contains music, it is forbidden due to the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "There will be among my Ummah people who will permit illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks, and musical instruments." Ringtones of Islamic songs that contain music are forbidden and should not be called Islamic.
