What is the ruling on a marriage that took place without a legal contract, or witnesses, or announcement, and lasted for a year and a half, and is it permissible for the woman to conceal this marriage and her previous actions when she marries in the future, and what are the consequences of that?

Marriage is an Islamic rite that has conditions without which it is not valid. You have stated that this is a mut'ah (temporary) marriage, and we have explained its invalidity to you, and your separation from this man is obligatory. Scholars have differed on whether these disputed marriages require annulment (faskh) or divorce (talaq). Ibn Qudamah holds that if a woman enters into an invalid marriage, she is not permitted to marry another man until her current marriage is divorced or annulled. If the husband refuses, the judge may annul his marriage. Al-Shafi'i, however, holds that there is no need for annulment or divorce.

If you are able to bring the matter before a Sharia judge to annul this marriage, then do so. Otherwise, you may act upon the opinion of those who held that such a marriage does not require annulment or divorce, and there is no blame upon you for marrying someone else after your waiting period (iddah) from him has expired. As for the hymen repair surgery, it is not permissible unless you fear harm to yourself. You are not obligated to inform the one who wishes to marry you about the loss of your virginity, and you may use circumlocution if he inquires about it. Do not return to this man. If his heresy is considered disbelief (kufr), then it is not permissible for him to marry you.
