Is it permissible to perform congregational prayer at the workplace, or must it be in the mosque, taking into consideration that performing it in the mosque might prevent some employees from offering it?
The default is to perform the prayer where it is called for in the mosques, based on the of Ibn Mas'ud: "Whoever wishes to meet Allah tomorrow as a Muslim, let him observe these prayers wherever they are called." Some scholars have made going to the mosque obligatory, citing the hadith of the blind man. Others hold the view that congregational prayer is permissible at work or in the market, though one misses the reward of the mosque, and the first opinion is the most preponderant. Nevertheless, if your performing congregational prayer at work leads to considerable benefits, then pray congregationally at your workplace, prioritizing this benefit, and it is hoped that you will be rewarded as one who calls to goodness.
