What is the ruling on my not complying with my father's request not to bring my wife and children to the place where I live abroad, under the pretext of my inability to support them, even though I am fully capable of doing so?

Filial piety is one of the most emphasized duties, but obedience to parents is only in what is permissible. A father preventing his son from bringing his wife and children to his workplace is not considered permissible. If the son fears falling into sin or fears it for his wife, then he must bring her if he is able. If he does not fear that, then bringing his wife and children is a right for him and for them. He should try to convince his father and mediate through someone who can help, but if the father insists and mediation fails, then the son may bring his wife and children, and there is no disobedience in that, while still needing to be kind to him and accompany him with good conduct.
