What is the ruling on holding celebrations for personal occasions such as a year passing since marriage, or a child walking, or losing a tooth, or crawling?

Allah has legislated two feasts for Muslims: Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. The proof for this is the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Indeed, Allah has substituted for you something better than them: the day of al-Adha and the day of al-Fitr." Any other feast besides these two is considered an innovation (bid'ah), based on his (peace be upon him) saying: "Whoever introduces into this matter of ours that which is not from it, it will be rejected." There is no harm in rejoicing over permissible matters, but what is forbidden is making it a feast that is celebrated repeatedly every year. The ingenuity in inventing new feasts stems from ignorance of the rulings of Islamic law and imitating other nations.
